Meet Dr. Hawkins
Cassandra Mmabatho Hawkins, a retired teacher and entrepreneur, believes in Frederick Douglass’s quote: “It’s easier to make strong kids than fix broken grown-ups.” With 29 years in education, she uses her degrees in speech, theatre, and communication to inspire children’s creativity and problem-solving. Dr. Cassandra Hawkins, a Doctor of Ministry, teaches Bible stories to help kids grow spiritually and directs stage plays and musicals to guide young people in making good choices. She was recognized as a VIP member by P.O.W.E.R in 2020.

Ms Tulini: Teachers at Brainfood Academy
Ms. Tulini is a retired teacher with experience in Special Education and General Education. As well as teaching Middle School Grades 4 and 5 in the school. I taught 9th and 10th Supplemental to support those who needed extra help. She taught a wide range of grades and even helped students during the pandemic with online learning. The love of teaching all grades is what she enjoys. Now, she’s excited to teach at Brainfood Academy. Meet her in this video

Hello, I’m Mr. Cantu, and I’m here to explore the world of music. Music theory helps us discover music in everyday life. In addition, it’s all around if you know where to find and recognize it. Therefore, at Brainfood Academy, my aim is to educate students and offer fun music lessons. Our focus includes learning to read musical chords and playing the guitar. Drawing from my music experience, students can become skilled in this art. As a creator and founder of Mariachi bands in Texas, I aim to share the joy of music with students of all ages. I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in science. My experience is mainly as a specialized teacher in reading and math for elementary students. Also, I enjoy helping students develop a love for reading and math. I will be teaching first graders reading, covering Phonological Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Fluency, Handwriting, Grammar, and Punctuation. In math, we’ll learn Counting, Operations, Number and Operations, Measurement, and Geometry. History – Mr Janecek Shows You History Is Fact
Mr. Janecek says we should study the past. Why? To better know the present. So, we can make smart plans for the future. Some might argue, but history is a fact. We can’t change or argue it. Yet, we can talk about it, learn, and understand both the good and bad things from the past.
Mr. Janecek will help us learn about the past and today. He’ll talk about history, from the Renaissance to now, using facts, not opinions. Learn to Sign and the Joy of Learning with Ms Jay
I talk with my hands!!! I love to teach and explore the world of learning. Although I have a special need to help me with my breathing, I hope to show my students that they are special too. With sign language and interactive teaching, I hope to show my students that there is the ability to learn in all things. As a result, in my class, my students will learn the joy and art of language. Ms Wendy Naruse and Felix – Learn and Grow
Hi there! I’m Ms. Wendy. Felix and I will guide you on a learning adventure at Brainfood Academy this year. I trained as a special education teacher at the University of Hawaii from 2018 to 2020. I’ve been working with elementary students since 2017. Also, I have three years of tutoring experience in math and language arts, and I’ve taught Conversational Cantonese to elementary kids for three years. Plus, I’ve been teaching online using Zoom for three years. Here are some fun facts about me!
I’m married and live in Hawaii with 4 dogs and a cat. I enjoy cooking, karaoke, and playing with my pets. In Brainfood Academy, I’ll teach grade 1 math with my assistant Felix, a stuffed animal.
